Daggerfall Crossroads

Back when I was just interested in Daggerfall and had not yet been able to dig up a copy, it was Magnus Itland's site that gave me a feeling what the game is all about. There are lots of screenshots, a nice introduction, the Lycanthropy FAQ, the amusing Nudity Guide. I was very sorry when it was gone, and happy that I could rescue it from oblivion by giving it a new home.

As I said, it is the ideal site for those not yet playing the game; but once you've played it a lot, you may want to come back and try out Magnus Itland's custom classes or his alternate play style.

The Beginner's Guide to Daggerfall

Once I got hold of a copy and started playing the game, this was the site I perused most. When I moved Daggerfall to a better-fit Pentium 120, I downloaded most of the site and put it on that computer. You will find all the basic info you need here: What rank do you need to be in the Mages' Guild to buy magic items, how to get along with the main quest or with any of the many small quests you get from guilds and merchants, what material your weapon has to be to kill a certain monster, and so on, and so on. It's all here. Besides, you can read all the books here that are in the game.

In April 2004, the Beginner's Guide to Daggerfall was obviously restored from an old backup. The description of the Lord K'avar quest is back, but all updates after 2000 are gone, and nearly all the outside links are broken. An email to the author did not bounce, but received no reply either. So the site seems to be more or less dead; let's hope it will stay online.

The UESP: Daggerfall

UESP stands for Unofficial Elder Scroll Pages. There are parallel pages of the other games in this series. This is a huge, a humungous site. Once you really got into the game, this is the site for you. You will find all kind of background and hacking information and about every utility ever created.

This site is still updated occasionally. Last thing added was a rare larger version of the demo in May 2003.

Enthusiast's Daggerfall Guide

I guess I used to underestimate this site a bit. It has a plethora of information, most rather specific and aimed at the serious Daggerfall player. It corrects some errors in the manual, has tips for custom spells and magic items, and a huge list of shops, the Daggerfall Gazeteer. Unfortunately it has, like many old sites, no real navigation, so it's easy to miss something.

The Enthusiast's Guide was last updated 1999-09-19. The webmaster is unreachable. It is probably just a matter of time till it will go down.

More Links

There are many more. Some of them are mere vanity pages, some offer interesting bits of informations or are just fun. It should be noted that few of these sites are updated any more, and links you find on them will often be broken.
