The second of Brendan's text.rsc replacements, and the serious "straight" one.
The second version of my work, this one, was editted in response to someone's desire for expanded text without the self-referential humor of Brendan1.rsc which broke his suspension of disbelief, rattling him out of his immersion into the gameplaying experience. Brendan2.rsc is designed to be the "straight" version of my work. It is somewhat smaller than its predecessor, but it is still greatly expanded. To illustrate this, the most esteemed author and administrator of the Unoffical Elder Scrolls Pages, Dave Humphrey, created an expanded text.rsc (addtext.rsc) which contained 6,000 bytes of new text. This work contains about 20 times that amount in new text. There's really not much I haven't revamped. I did use a little of Dave Humphrey's work, but it's a very small percentage of the overall bulk. This is still, however, just the Preview Edition and I'm still hunting down little oversights and overhauling things. I hope to have variable biographies for each of the 17 standard classes to make things interesting. Most of the dialogue, character creation messages, player stat descriptions, and other commonly encountered messages have been added to by 200% or two new entries for every existing one, usually more. Special attention has been given to the most frequently used dialogue messages. The spell descriptions and SpellMaker button descriptions have been left alone, but you'll find that some of the item descriptions have had some tinkering done to them, as well as the disease messages. A particular effort was made to expand the often repetitious merchant dialogues and store descriptions, but work on this is far from complete. The summoning dialogues have been expanded quite a bit, and even the "You get no response." messages have been exploded with new entries.
Just like Brendan1.rsc, this file is one of the smallest downloads among the Daggerfall mods, and definitely the easiest to install and uninstall. This is a new version from 2005-05-31.
