There are eight temples in Daggerfall. You can only join one of them, so choose wisely, for the only way to leave it once you have joined is to get expelled, which can be quite difficult.

Probably the most useful temple to join. You get potions at lower ranks than in any other temple, and it is the only one that sells soul gems.
Arkay was named after one of the original beta testers, R. K. Deutsch, who died in 1998.
Sentinel, Ilessan Hills, Shalgora, Dragontail Mountains, and the only temple in Orsinium
Named after another beta tester (Lawrence Szydlowski), who liked to sign "also known as the old Smaug himself".
Wayrest, Bergama, Isle of Balfiera
Named after one of the beta testers, Mary Jo DiBella.
Koegria, Menevia, Tigonus, Pothago
The only temple with an item maker, and one of the two without a potion maker.
Julianos was named after Julian Lefay, project leader of Daggerfall and the following Elder Scrolls games.
Tulune, Daenia, Dwynnen, Satakalaam, Lainlyn, Abibon-Gora
Except for the fact that she is the main goddess in the province of Daggerfall, Kynareth is usually seen as the least useful temple to join.
Kynareth is not named after anyone, but was already present in Arena. The artifact Lord's Mail was found in Kynareth's crypt.
Daggerfall, Alcaire, Wrothgarian Mountains, Kozanset, Myrkwasa
Possibly named after beta tester Marilyn Wassermann.
Glenumbra Moors, Northmoor, Anticlere, Ykalon, Ephesus, Santaki, Ayasofya, Antiphyllos, Betony
Named after beta tester Daniel Starr.
Phrygias, Urvaius, Bhoriane, Mournoth, Dak'fron, Alik'r Desert
Named after Stephen "Zen" Zepp, an Arena beta tester.
Glenpoint, Kambria, Gavaudon, Totambu, Kairou
