I played both Fallout games a lot in 1999/2000, and the idea
for a Fallout website dates back to these years. My interest was
renewed in July 2004, when Bethesda acquired the Fallout license
and announced they would be developing Fallout 3, and that was
when I actually started this website. The rather annoying
discussion that then ensued somewhat dampened my enthusiasm,
and since mid-August the site has been more or less on hold.
My main interest is not so much gameplay, but background
information on the two classic Fallout games, especially about
features originally planned but left out. I also collected
everything I found about Van Buren, Interplay's cancelled
Fallout 3 project.
- Fallout Downloads
- This section is fairly intact and functional. You can get the
patches, the demo, the editor, and a few other things here.
- Fallout Curiosities
- A few oddities from the Fallout world. I didn't include everything
that didn't make it into the final versions, because there's nothing
curious about that. Updated (with some screenshots) 2007-05-21.
- Fallout Missing Persons
- An astonishing amount of finished work was discarded during the
development of Fallout, and not always replaced by something better.
Updated 2007-05-06.
- Who Created What?
- Partly from the Fallout Bibles, but more from interviews with the
developers I have gathered some info on who created which parts of the
Fallout games and the Fallout universe. Updated 2007-05-22.
- The Inkspots: I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire
- Originally, this would have been the title song for
Fallout. Since who held the rights on it was somewhat
vague, Interplay chose Maybe instead. Ten years later,
Bethesda secured the rights for Fallout 3. Updated 2007-06-07.
- Size
- Size is a hidden item stat that is only used in connection with the
car trunk. Here you'll find a list of the sizes of the most common
items. Updated 2007-05-18.
- Weapons
- Some Fallout weapons and their real-life counterparts.
- Tycho
- What Jess Heinig had to say about the creation of Tycho.
Added 2007-05-18.
- Random Encounters: Homeless
- A somewhat strange random encounter from Fallout 2.
- Van Buren
- The codename of Interplay's 2003 Fallout 3 project
that was dropped in favor of a console title when it was already 90%
finished. Updated 2007-05-24.
- Fallout Mods
- The release of the editor
gave birth to a number of ambitious mod projects, but none has
gotten very far yet. Updated 2007-09-20.
