Background: Mar Athon is a Wood Elf who is currently exploring the area around the Iliac Bay. Starting out at Privateers Hold on the west coast of Daggerfall, he has been running (and later flying low) over the provinces of Daggerfall, Shalgora, Anticlere, Dwynnen, Bhoriane, Koegria, Alcaire, Wrothgarian Mountains, Mevia, Wayrest, Mournoth, Satakalaam and Totambu. Mr Athon started out in not too good shape, and the first couple weeks the speed was unimpressive and he had to rest frequently. After a while his skills increased, though. And one event came to change his life: Near Charlie, Daggerfall, he was attacked by a werewolf. He managed to kill the beast, but was infected with its curse. He was about to turn into a werewolf! Seeking the help of the Glenmoril witches of Longing, he (after some daring adventures) got his hand on the Hircine Ring, which helps control the beast inside. Now he was able to beat enemies that he until recently ran away from; and the ring also heals all damage less than death. Almost invulnerable, Mr Athon has continued the exploration with very little delay. His experiences with Lycanthropy also gave him enough insight in magic to join the Mages Guild. In Koegria and Alcaire, he stopped in a couple cities with a Guild to pick up spells and new knowledge. He also took jobs for the Guild to defend people and magickal objects from intruders, a job he was uniquely suited for while in his werewolf form. From here on, Athon has used flying instead of running, further improving his research of the land. Gradually he improved his magickal skills until he was allowed to make his own magickal items. In Makiburea, west in Totambu, Mr Athon discovered that the radiation from his magickal jewels had somehow altered his innate abilities, giving him a superhuman skill in the school of Mysticism: Even without the enchantments, he was still at the maximum of human capability. The Mages Guild acknowledged his new status by making him a honorary Archmage, with full access to all services of the guild at any time. Most notably, Mr Athon now uses the teleporting service to travel all over the Bay area, often several times a day. He has an anchor in one of the Mages Guilds, in the Warp Chamber there, and recalls there after each adventure. Mr Athon belongs to the Xtreme Runner class, which are fast and agile with good unarmed combat skills. They can use weapons, but prefer not to. The Xtreme Runners are allergic to certain metals and avoid these in any form, be it weapon or armor.
Playing tips: The Xtreme Runner is designed for playing without the Fast Travel feature of Daggerfall, so as to really appreciate the immensity of the gameworld. They will make so many levels simply by running that their health points will make them very robust early in the game. As their running skill reaches maximum, they will also start to find high quality armor. Until then, it's a good idea to run from a fight unless you are sure to win - because these guys can outrun anything. Run, Forrest, run! |
